This is a newly revised version of a previously published and retracted article. Since it appears that certain pharmaceutical companies with a vested financial interest in burying alternative out-of-patent treatments in favor of in-patent treatments they are developing, have ensured no unbiased clinical trials of Ivermectin’s efficacy in treating SARS-CoV2 see the light of day, the article has been revised to remove references to clinical studies, focusing exclusively on the mechanisms of action of ivermectin. The article has undergone peer review independent of the original article’s review process.
Rationale for previous retraction: The Editor-in-Chief has retracted this article. Following publication, concerns were raised regarding the methodology and the conclusions of this review article. Post-publication review confirmed that while the review article appropriately describes the mechanism of action of ivermectin, the cited sources do not appear to show that there is clear clinical evidence of the effect of ivermectin for the treatment of SARS-CoV-2. The Editor-in-Chief therefore no longer has confidence in the reliability of this review article. None of the authors agree to this retraction.
